We took a relaxing 3.5 hours ride aboard the Western Maryland Rail through the scenic Allegheny Mountains to historic Frostburg. The beautifully restored Cumberland station with its 100-year old quaint but sturdy benches made me believe I was in the early 1900s’. Frostburg’s station also elicited feelings of nostalgic warmth and along the way we met wonderful people. Our most memorable encounter was with a couple who had been married for almost a half century and loved to travel along historic train routes – their inside tip? The Grand Canyon Railway!
