Aroma and Bath Therapies

Aromatherapy is a branch of herbal medicine that uses essential oils extracted from plants and herbs to treat conditions ranging from infections and skin disorders to immune deficiencies and stress.

The term Aromatherapy was first coined in the early part of the twentieth century by the French chemist Rene-Maurice Gattefosse. The term aromatherapy simply means “treatment with scent”. It is the use of plant materials and Essential Oils for the treatment of mind and body. Essential oils are highly concentrated and potent oils extracted from plants, trees, shrubs, flowers and leaves.

The history of aromatherapy crosses many continents, cultures and centuries. In order to truly understand aromatherapy today it is paramount that one understands how it has crossed the span of time. It has developed and grown from one culture to the next as it spread around the world.

Dating back to ancient Egypt, India, and the Far East, this simple therapy has been used for centuries to reduce stress and tension, refresh and invigorate the body, soothe emotions, and clear the mind.
