Building Self-Respect

Are other people always walking all over you without regard for your time or energy…constantly pulling you into their wants, needs, and agendas?

Do you need approval from other people and therefore tolerate abuse?

If yes, build more self-respect.

Self-respect will require you to cultivate a strong inner compass, be content with your life, set clear boundaries, and say no to people and events that do not align with what you need to do.

TO BUILD SELF-RESPECT:

Take responsibility for your actions and stand by your values.

Love yourself first and then choose the relatives, friends, partners and environments that support respect. Your inner joy cannot be dependent on other people.

Accept your limitations and flaws while embracing your strengths.

Turn your attention inward thereby eliminating the fear of missing out or being jealous of what other people are doing and achieving.

Say no. Setting clear boundaries allows you to save your energy and time for what enlivens you and brings you joy. You can then give from the overflow of your energy reserves to others.
