Life’s daily mundane tasks can easily keep you distracted from what truly excites you in life. But you alone are responsible for your destiny and CANNOT give up before you succeed! With willpower and continuous self-discipline, you can guide of your life and decide how you want to live.

SELF-EXAMINE

  • Brainstorm: Take a clean sheet of paper and write “Passions” at the top. Try to come up with at least 20 answers by prompting yourself in the following ways.
  • What answers first pop into your mind easily? Write those down.
  • What strengths, skills, and talents come easily to you? Which of them brings you the most joy, calm, or peace? Write those down.
  • Take another moment and listen to your heart. What makes it skip a beat? What did you love doing when you were a child or young person (when you had less inhibitions) that you aren’t doing now? Are other people doing what you truly like to do? If they are doing it, why not you?
  • If you had all the financial security and time you needed, where would your heart take you? Write those insights down.

MENTAL MAPS

  • Meditation: Sit in solitude and focus on your breath to silence your mind. When the feeling of calm comes, begin to ask yourself about your passions and solutions to problems you may have. What comes up? What images do you see? What do they mean? Write down these insights when you come out of your meditation.
  • Face the Fears: Ask yourself about your secret fears and insecurities. Where do you make excuses? What makes you feel inhibited? How can you overcome? What is the first step you can take? Take that step and define the next one.
  • I Can and I Will: To cultivate greater self-confidence and sustained grit, employ affirmations. Constant reassurance helps you to conquer your fears so that you can realize your goals. Do a little bit everyday consistently.
  • Identify Patterns: Are there scenarios or situations you constantly stumble across? Is there an issue you think about all the time? Identify the recurring pattern, evaluate the lesson learned (or you need to learn) and how you can break the pattern loop.
  • Journal: Writing down your thoughts and feelings will deepen your self-awareness. The journal will allow you to organize your thoughts and remain aligned with your passions.

You have now uncovered your passion and begun to face your fears. You do not have to make radical changes, but you do have to take small steps every day to live a passionate life.
