A Hygge Happy Home

Hygge (pronounced HOO-gah) is the Danish art of self-care by creating cozy contentment and embracing the simple things in life. The Danes’ obsession with hygge is one of the reasons Denmark is classified as one of the world’s happiest countries.

Below are some simple ways to bring some hygge into your life.

Light a candle. Candles bring warmth and light and is an important element of cozy living.

Fireplaces. Curl up by the fire if you have a fireplace.

Throw blankets | Heated Throws | Sweaters | Socks. Warm and soft fabrics that hug the the body are a must – super hygge!

Homemade sweets, comfort food, and hot drinks. Warm deserts, hot comfort food and chocolate are essential elements of the hygge lifestyle.

The simple things. Reading a book, singing, taking walk in your neighborhood, riding a bike, a picnic in the park, a bonfire outdoors and game or movie night are all part of hygge – living the good life!
